GBRCTA Nominations and Elections
December 1st is the deadline for nominations to serve on the GBRCTA Board of Directors. No nominations will be accepted after that date and time.
Join Us at the Annual Meeting to Vote
GBRCTA will hold its Annual Meeting on Sunday, December 4, at 4:00 p.m., at Bocage Racquet Club, for the purpose of electing the 2017 Board of Directors. Ballots containing the names of all nominees will be distributed to those GBRCTA members* who are present, and voting will take place in person at the meeting only. A maximum of 15 Board members will be elected, and those nominees who receive a majority of votes from those present at the meeting will be deemed elected. *If you play league tennis, you are automatically a GBRCTA member; only those members 18 years of age and older are eligible to vote.
About GBRCTA Board Service
Serving on the GBRCTA Board of Directors is an excellent way to support tennis in our community. The Board is comprised of a maximum of 15 members who serve one-year terms, beginning in January. As part of their service, GBRCTA board members are expected to attend at least eight regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year. They are also expected to contribute at least 20 service hours at GBRCTA sanctioned events, which include various adult charity tournaments, the Cajun Classic Wheelchair Tennis Tournament, tennis mixers and juniors events, such as Junior Team Tennis leagues and 10 & Under Play Days.
Board Member Duties:
It shall be the duty of the directors to:
(a) Perform any and all duties imposed on them collectively or individually by law, by the Articles of Incorporation or by these Bylaws;
(b) Appoint and remove, employ and discharge, and, except as otherwise provided in these Bylaws, prescribe the duties and fix the compensation, if any, of all officers, agents and employees of the Association;
(c) Supervise all officers, agents and employees of the Association to assure that their duties are performed properly;
(d) Meet at such times and places as required by these Bylaws;
e) Register their addresses with the Secretary of the Association;
(f) Participate in the functions of the Association;
(g) Perform at least 20 hours of volunteer service per year, outside of regular meeting attendance, at GBRCTA-sponsored or sanctioned events or work in support of other GBRCTA needs, such as website management, emails, marketing work, etc. (effective Jan. 1, 2013)

The Greater Baton Rouge Community Tennis Association (GBRCTA) promotes the development of tennis as a means of healthful recreation and physical fitness for all Greater Baton Rouge area residents, regardless of age or ability.
GBRCTA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and is affiliated with United States Tennis Association (USTA) and Louisiana Tennis Association (LTA). More than 3,000 adults and 300 juniors who play league are members of GBRCTA. GBRCTA has grant money available for certain projects and programs, for more information click here.
