Show Your Love for Tennis - Baton Rouge Named in Top 10 Best Tennis Towns

BATON ROUGE- The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has declared Baton Rouge one of the top 10 best tennis towns in America. The top three finalists will be decided by fans voting online for their favorite tennis community from July 16-26 at www.besttennistown.com.

BREC and The Greater Baton Rouge Community Tennis Association (GBRCTA) partnered to nominate Baton Rouge as the Best Tennis Town by submitting the required documentation and a five minute video highlighting tennis in the community. The top 10 cities named by the USTA will receive national recognition and a tennis equipment package valued at $2,000.

The three communities that receive the most votes are awarded a trip for two to Flushing, New York to attend the 2009 U.S. Open, which takes place from Aug. 31 - Sept. 13. The top three prizes will be revealed during this event.

When asked about the importance of this competition, President of the GBRCTA Kyle Ferachi said, "Being selected to the top 10 among all other cities in the United States is a tremendous affirmation that Baton Rouge has the best tennis support in America. We need all our friends and colleagues to go online, watch the video and vote Baton Rouge as Best Tennis Town in America."

It is the BREC mission to provide parks and recreational opportunities for all the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish.
